Helo
A copy like Boomer, Sharon was supposed to pretend to be Boomer in a mission to make Boomer's old raptor squadmate Helo fall in love with her. As of the end of Season One, I wasn't sure why the Cylons were experimenting with love, but I knew one thing was certain: Sharon was not supposed to fall in love with Helo.
She did fall in love, though, as did he. There's a scene in Season One where Sharon is standing on top of a building with Six and Doral watching Helo. Sharon had supposedly been "captured", and they were waiting to see what Helo would do. If he headed south, he'd be making a run for his life to get off the planet alone. If he headed north, he'd be risking his life to save Sharon. It was obviously a tough decision for him, as he started to go south, but he turned around and started searching for his love.
Sharon worked with the Cylons in the beginning stages of Helo's and her relationship, but I think falling in love with him made her question what was right, and she rebelled against the Cylons; she and Helo began running for real.
Sharon had Helo's complete trust for a while. In Caprica City, however, Sharon and Helo saw another copy of Sharon that she shot down after realizing it was trying to kill Helo. I guess Helo felt betrayed, because he stopped treating Sharon with the love and compassion he had for her before. He even shot her.
What's more, Sharon even told him to do it. It may have been because she knew if she died that she'd be redownloaded into another body, or maybe because she had just given up. She wanted Helo's love more than anything, and that's why I support the latter. She confessed her love to him in the last episode of Season One, and he shot it down.
I don't care. I don't love you. I loved what I thought was you.
After shooting Sharon, Helo could not bring himself to kill her. Some might say it was selfish motives -- that he needed her to get off the planet, but I don't think so. I saw hurt in his eyes, and genuine emotion for her. I think that he still loved Sharon then, and that at that point he was still shocked and hurt.
Sharon didn't really have a choice but to keep her being a Cylon away from Helo. He wouldn't have trusted her, and he definitely would have never loved her.
Helo and Sharon's relationship is actually one of my favorite parts of the show. Although unconventional, it's sweet. Helo, basically the epitome of good, was able to change Sharon without knowing what he was doing. Good conquered evil. Hell yeah.
