Death

It's my opinion that Boomer experiences a social death on Galactica after shooting Commander Adama a little before her actual one.

She's immediately taken to the brig after the shock of what she has done settles in for everyone, and she is called a "thing", even though she can't fathom what she has done. Even as she was being dragged away she was yelling, "What happened? I didn't do anything!" Several cylons played the innocent, unknowing card, but I really believe that Boomer didn't know what she had done. She was a sleeper agent, and her hidden programming took over.

Boomer was abusively interrogated by Tigh in the brig. He asked her who else was a cylon and who ordered her to shoot the Commander, things she didn't know the answers to. Somewhere in the middle of the beating, Tigh puts a gun against her face threatening to shoot her. Boomer almost begs to be shot, calling Tigh a coward and telling him to just do it already. Boomer had already given up on life because of her fear, and while I think she was regaining her will to live, that probably vanished after the way she was treated for shooting Adama. Not only had she just absolutely determined that she was in fact a cylon, but everyone in her life that she had cared about hated her and looked at her as a toaster.

For whatever reason, through the hate Boomer still cared for the people who hated her. She even asked about Commander Adama's health before Tigh began to interrogate her, a concern that was shoved aside by Tigh as a hidden motive. She even still loved Tyrol.

Chief Tyrol was put in the brig in her cell after returning from Kobol because of his romantic history with Boomer. Boomer was so happy to see him, eager to get some affection from someone; she probably wanted to be treated like a human for once instead of a thing. Tyrol shot her down, though.

Don't you talk to me. Don't come near me. Don't touch me. If you do I swear I will kill you."

Boomer was genuinely upset that Tyrol was also being punished for her action, and she tried to convince Tryol of that, and that she had genuinely loved him, no matter what she happened to be. He called her a machine and said that she didn't have feelings.

Boomer's love for Tyrol was tested and proven when Gaius Baltar came into the cell to interrogate Boomer. He injected Tyrol with a substance that stopped his heart, and refused to save him unless Boomer told him how many cylon agents were in the fleet. Boomer obviously didn't know, just having discovered that she was a cylon herself, and started performing CPR on Tryol trying to save his life. Gaius kept screaming, "Do you love him, Sharon?" to which she finally screamed, "Eight!" desperate for Tyrol to live. After Gaius injected the antidote, Boomer sat there holding Tyrol and sobbed.

A separate cell was built for Boomer, and while being walked to it Boomer was being yelled at by the fleet, words like "toaster" and "traitor". Having been abused by Tigh and rejected by Tyrol, she had to have been experiencing an ultimate low in that moment. These were people she loved and cared about, people she worked and lived with, and people she trusted. From somewhere in the confusion Cally ran out and shot Boomer in the stomach. Cally loved Tyrol and saw Boomer as the reason he was in trouble. Even seeing her die, Cally looked at Boomer with disgust.

Tyrol loved Boomer.Tyrol held Boomer in her dying moments. I think he still had love for her because he was upset at Gaius' news that she was going to have tests ran like she was some lab rat before her shooting. Tears build up in his eyes, and he tries to get Boomer to hang on and be okay. "I love you, Chief," were her last words.
