Domain

I've been building websites since my ninth grade year in 2000 when I built a site to K. A. Applegate's book series Everworld. It was crap, literally, as I even had a layout titled "version shit", but it taught me a lot about web design, the internet, and a even a little on writing. I have built a few sites since then: a couple more fansites, a couple blogs over the years, some fanlistings, and even a webzine, but I didn't really become serious about improving with this until I built my first shrine in 2005 to a gaming character, Adelbert Steiner of Final Fantasy IX, and started a collective to hold more shrines. It was then that I realized that what I really enjoy doing with a website is discussing characters, and I've been doing that since. That's really the focus of my domain, and I think if I wasn't creating shrines, I probably wouldn't be web designing at all.

Names

Dragonzord is the Green Ranger's zord from the old TV show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. (I wanted to be the Green Ranger growing up!) I was a huge Power Rangers fan when I was little, and I'm still one today. I'm basically a big kid, and that's why I enjoy my domain name so much. No matter how old I get, I'll probably never be able to let go of fandoms from my childhood, and I love the rush of nostalgia they bring. On top of that, dragonzord.net just looks cool, doesn't it?

I finally caved and got a trendy network name for my domain after much prodding from other webmasters. I wanted to choose a name that was gaming-centric since my domain name was already based off of a TV show, and since everybody relates Tidus from Final Fantasy X with me, I figured I should choose something based around him. A couple of my friends suggested using a weapon name, and so I looked at the list of weapons he can get. The Nightbringer really stood out to me. It looks and sounds really cool, it's focused around Tidus, and it's somewhat dark, like the subjects of my shrines.

Technical Information

After having issues with my last host and not being able to afford to transfer my domain to a new host, I registered dragonzord.net on March 24, 2009 with A Small Orange, and I host my websites with them as well. They have been awesome to me so far and provide very affordable service for exactly what I need. I can't recommend them enough.
